Frequently Asked Questions

1. I'm active and healthy.  Why should I consider joining The Providence Village?

Even if you don't need any services today, your membership assures that the Providence Village will be there when you do need it--like insurance.  In the meantime, membership in the Village enriches your life through its opportunities for new friendships, meaningful volunteer work, and social and cultural events.

2.  If I live outside the Village area, may I still join?

Anyone is welcome to join the Providence Village, however, services provided at member's homes are limited to those residing in the Village services area. All members, regardless of where they live, are invited to attend social events and volunteer to assist other members.

3.  Do your drivers have background checks?

Yes, all our drivers have criminal background checks along with reviews of their motor vehicle driving records.

4.  Do other volunteers have background checks?

All volunteers who have direct contact with members or member information are required to undergo a criminal background check.  This assures the safety of our members and gives everyone confidence that our volunteers have good records.

5. Where will drivers take members?

Any destination within Providence, East Providence, North Providence, and Pawtucket is possible.  These geographic boundaries will be expanded when enough volunteer drivers are available.
