Advancing Age, Dementia & Disability Inclusivity in Rhode Island:
A Conversation with Dr. Alexandre Kalache, Global Leader of the Age Friendly Cities Movement & Local Age-Friendly Champions
Please join Age-Friendly Rhode Island in welcoming Dr. Alexandre Kalache,
former director of the World Health Organization’s global aging program and
current President of the International Longevity Centre-Brazil and Board member
of the Age Friendly Institute. Dr. Kalache will inspire us by sharing his international
perspective on longevity and the age-friendly movement from decades of leading
this work. He will also share best practices and policies necessary to achieve an
age-friendly world in which equity, building communities where older adults thrive,
and combating ageism and racism are priorities. Joining Dr. Kalache will be local
champions of older Rhode Islanders who, through advocacy and delivery of
programs and services to our aging neighbors, are championing the age-friendly
cause every day. We welcome our collective impact partners, Rhode Island
government leaders from all sectors, and community stakeholders who share our
dream of a Rhode Island where older adults feel safe, empowered, independent,
and able to live and participate fully in their communities. This event is supported
by Point32Health Foundation.
