Alzheimer's Association: Creating Communities that Can Support A Brain Healthy Lifestyle

About this event

Use the momentum of the village model to support lifestyle changes and consider receiving support from the Alzheimer's Association® if someone you care for or yourself begins to show signs of cognitive changes that are beginning to disrupt daily life.

Presenters:
Margaret (Annie) Murphy joined the Alzheimer's Association® RI Chapter in January 2009. She has a background in medical rehabilitation working with people with medical, substance abuse and psychiatric disabilities. She holds a master degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption College and her Bachelors in Psychology and social work from Simmons College. She has worked in several non profit community based mental health organizations, home care and secondary educational services, home care and providing education, short and long term care planning and resource referrals in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for the last 20 years before her employment with the Alzheimer's Association®. Annie oversees the implementation of statewide Alzheimer’s Association® volunteer led, staff supported educational programming, caregiver support services, early stage social engagement activities and resource coordination for people living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementia and people who support them.
Doug Emanuel is a member of the Board of Advisors of the RI Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association®. Like many volunteers, Doug’s loved ones have suffered and are suffering from Alzheimer’s, and that is what drives his passion for the cause. In his “spare time,” Doug is a partner in and of Chace Ruttenberg & Freedman, LLP, with offices in Providence and Westerly. Doug is a member of the firm's Trusts, Estate Planning & Administration Group and advises the firm’s clients on estate planning needs and considerations, long-term asset protection, Medicaid planning, probate practice and procedure and trust administration. In addition, he has served as chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association's New Lawyers Committee. Doug is a recognized “Rhode Island Super Lawyer” and is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
