“A powerful idea behind the village…is that we all have something that can be of help to someone else…Isn’t it great that we now have a way of doing a few needed things that connect neighbor with neighbor?”

– Tony Allen,
Member and Volunteer

Our Mission

The mission of the Providence Village is to create a community of mutual support, so that we can live rich, full lives in our homes and neighborhoods.

Our Vision

The Providence Village will provide a single source of access to programs and services that support a healthy, safe and satisfying life for our members.

Our Core Values

Generosity is the lifeblood of our community. Members and friends of the Village volunteer their time and resources to support each other.

Our Village thrives on inclusiveness. We welcome all to join our Village, regardless of age, income, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or faith.

Engaging with others is central to our health and well-being. We support the social connections of
friendship, fun, and joy.

We embrace the spirit of collaboration. We contribute to and benefit from, working with each other, with existing organizations and with other neighborhoods and communities.

A self-sustaining community rests upon good governance and fiscal responsibility. We remain strong through the financial and volunteer support of members and friends.

Our History

In the fall of 2014, a small group of people living on the East Side of Providence were inspired by the Village Movement and what had been accomplished in other communities around the country to enhance the experience of growing older and support older adults. In December 2015, we began operations as the Providence Village and we’ve been making a difference ever since.
