“Over the past few years, I’ve had to face a number of challenges… My Village has been with me every step of the way...”

– Thomas Wilson –

Dear Members, Volunteers, and Friends,

As the Coronavirus (COVID -19) situation evolves in the Ocean State, our daily lives are changing. Governor Gina Raimondo continues to announce necessary restrictions and suspensions of normal services. The national and local measures are temporary, but we must all follow Rhode Island’s public health guidelines to preserve our community’s health and safety.

What does this mean for The Village Common of RI’s services?

Practice Social Distancing.

We encourage Village members and volunteers to stay at home and avoid contact with others as much as possible. Our local Villages in Barrington and Providence are not holding in-person activities or events. Our emerging Villages are postposing community meetings, too. We support connecting through phones, videoconferencing, and other creative uses of technology.

Contact Us for Help.

We will continue our standard services as much as possible. This includes errands, pickup and delivery, check-in calls, and essential transportation when drivers are available. Even if we cannot help you directly, we can help connect you with available community resources and services. Our “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” philosophy remains central to our mission.

Follow National and Local Health Guidelines.

Please stay healthy and safe!
